The City of Fort Oglethorpe has launched a new portal for Occupational Tax filings.
- Beginning in January 2026, you can file and pay the Occupational Tax securely and quickly using Fort Oglethorpe’s Community Connect Portal.
- You will need a PIN # and your Business Account #, both assigned by the City, to create your account.
- Pin #s and Business Account #s are being mailed in November and December to all currently active businesses.
- It is recommended that you create your account by December 15 to be ready for the January 2026 filing season.
Inside the portal, you will be able to view the history of your prior year Occupational Tax filings and file and pay for required filings. If your business uses a third-party to assist with filing your annual occupational tax return, please be sure to share your PIN # and Business Account # with them.
By completing your Occupational Tax Certificates application on the Community Portal, businesses are certifying the following:
I hereby represent that the amount outlined in my Occupational Tax Certificate application is the actual amount of gross receipts of such business during the preceding calendar year. I understand that any misrepresentation of the exact amount of gross receipts could result in criminal prosecution and that the City has full subpoena and arrest powers to ensure the accurate calculation of gross receipts of any business.
For new businesses, the estimated gross receipts will be accepted.
All businesses in the City of Fort Oglethorpe are required to have a Occupational Tax Certificate.
- A new Occupational Tax Certificate must be issued if a business changes owners, classification, or location.
- A Business Tax Certificate may NOT be transferred from one owner to another.
- For new businesses needing to know their class or if you have questions, please call 706-866-2544 ext. 1101
- Additionally, any account with an E-Verify # must submit a new Private Employer Affidavit whenever changes are made.
Every building within the City must have a Certificate of Occupancy to operate.
If the building is changing occupancy, classification, or modifications, plans must be submitted to the Catoosa County Planning and Inspections Department or to the Economic Development Department and then to the Fire Marshal’s office. To obtain a Certificate of Occupancy, upon passing the inspection, the business can start the application process.
Occupational Tax Certificate applications are also available at City Hall.
