PLANNING AND ZONING

VISION FOR THE FUTURE

In 2021, the City of Fort Oglethorpe, in partnership with the Carl Vinson Institute of Government and the Lyndhurst Foundation, created the Renaissance Strategic Vision and Plan (RSVP). While addressing the top issues raised by community members in step one of the RSVP, the downtown master plan was produced to help guide local leaders and inform future design concepts prepared for the community. This is also the starting place for special events within The City of Fort Oglethorpe.

If you or your organization is interested in holding an event within the city limits, complete the Special Event Permit and email it to Taylor Hutwagner.

The City of Fort Oglethorpe and Stable 41 Farmers Market were selected and awarded a Farmers Market Promotion Program (FMPP) Grant through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in 2022. This is a three-year award that will assist in funding our Stable 41 Farmers Market located in the historic district of Fort Oglethorpe at 214 First Street.

Stable 41 Farmers Market was accepted into the Wholesome Wave Georgia’s Fresh for Less program, which allows the market to match SNAP shoppers’ purchases dollar-for-dollar on fresh, locally grown food.

During the summer of 2023, the Stable 41 Farmers Market received the AgGeorgia Farmers Market Grant which will be used to continue the promotion of the market. Thank you AgGeorgia Farm Credit for selecting Stable 41!

Throughout the years Fort Oglethorpe has been featured in various publications.  We’ve also created items to help tell our story. Below are just few examples.
